Drumroll please.... a logo almost

Posted Aug 30, 2007 9:48 AM by Susan Barnes

We almost have a logo.  We have chosen a direction and our generous designer, Betsy Ehlen Hall is working on the refinement.  Of course I am biased, but I am very excited about how the logo looks and thrilled to be moving forward with the project.  The logo is a crucial element and now that we have the direction, we can start on the web site look and feel as well.  Woo hoo!

Words from a new mom...

Posted Aug 30, 2007 9:14 AM by Arianne Bautista

What a cool idea! Why not give back to your community and make a difference, while learning a new skill, developing a new hobby -- enriching your life one way or the other? I have always been conscious of helping out my fellow man/animal/plant and doing my part, but being a first-time mom of an 8 month old girl, really puts things into perspective. I still don't understand why simple things, like throwing a bottle in a recycle bin vs. a trash bin is just so hard for some people. And why is everything still growing bigger (bigger meal portions, bigger cars, bigger houses....) Thank goodness for the Smart Car coming out very soon -- so cool!

Anyway, not to stray off course, but I am excited for Classes for Causes. I think it's a great way to join communities and friends, while making a difference.

Hooray to Susan for having such a brilliant idea!

What do you believe?

Posted Aug 18, 2007 10:38 PM by Susan Barnes

Today I spent the day at the Craigslist Foundation's Non-profit Bootcamp and it was incredibly powerful.  Educate Empower Connect is their mission and I feel like that is really what we are up to with Classes for Causes as well.  I talked with a bunch of people and they were all very encouraging and thought the idea was really good.  It is not going to be easy, but it will be worth it and I think we'll learn a lot and have some fun along the way too.

A very special person sent me a link to monodonation.com today.  Their idea is very similar to Classes for Causes because they are enabling people to create their own T-shirts and purchase them, while at the same time donating to a charity.  You have to watch the video stories to really understand the concept, so do it now.

I believe in you.

Classes for Causes

Posted Aug 11, 2007 6:21 AM by Susan Barnes

Hallelujah!  We finally have a name.  We went from the original "Courses for Causes" idea around in a big circle all the way back to "Classes for Causes."  Keeping it simple and succinct is key.

Yesterday I secured the domains and a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders.  We can finally move forward with the logo and web site design.  I can't wait to see how it all turns out.  Stay tuned.
